The Eastern Cape Department of Education placed 54 adverts in Public Service Vacancy Circular 39, issued on 30 October 2026. They run from a Deputy Director-General down to data capturers. 36 of the posts ask for a Grade 12 certificate with no experience, though each advert also lists the knowledge and skills it expects.
33 of those 36 are Level 5 posts paying R237,453 to R279,708 a year: administration clerks, registry clerks, accounting clerks and one secretary. The biggest groups are 7 clerks for circuit offices in Mbizana Coastal, Mbizana Inland and Ntenetyana, 7 human resource development clerks and 6 accounting clerks. Posts are spread across districts such as Alfred Nzo, Amathole, Chris Hani East, Nelson Mandela Bay, OR Tambo Inland and Sarah Baartman, so check which district each reference number belongs to.
The other 3 are data capturer posts at Head Office in Zwelitsha, on Level 4, at R201,093 to R236,877 a year plus 37% in place of service benefits. These are contracts: two run to 31 March 2027 and one is for a year.
Apply on the provincial e-recruitment system at ecprov.gov.za under Careers, or at erecruitment.ecotp.gov.za. It closes at 23:59 on 13 November 2026 and late applications won't be considered. The system creates your Z83 when you apply, and you add a detailed CV. You don't send copies of qualifications now: only shortlisted people hand in certified copies, on or before the interview date. Don't email your application to the support address, because the department says it won't be considered.
Plan for two more things. The department won't pay for transport, accommodation or meals when you attend an assessment or interview. And if you haven't heard within six months of the closing date, it says you should take it that your application was unsuccessful.
Applying is free, and nobody should pay for a job.
