The Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) published Public Service Vacancy Circular 39 of 2026 on 30 October. It is the weekly list of government posts open to the public.
This circular covers 20 national departments: Communications and Digital Technologies, Correctional Services, Electricity and Energy, Employment and Labour, Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, GCIS, Government Printing Works, the Government Technical Advisory Centre, Higher Education and Training, Home Affairs, the National Prosecuting Authority, Land Reform and Rural Development, the Office of the Chief Justice, Public Works and Infrastructure, Small Business Development, the South African Police Service, Sport, Arts and Culture, Transport, Water and Sanitation, and the Presidency.
Seven provincial administrations also advertise in it: Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and Western Cape.
Each post has its own closing date, reference number and way to apply, so read the advert in the department's section of the circular before you send anything. Most posts ask for the Z83 application form and a CV, and many departments now take applications only online.
Applying for a government job is free. Nobody needs money to process, reserve or fast-track your application.
